Approvals and staying in control
How PlutoAI pauses to ask you before it makes important decisions
PlutoAI does the work for you, but it does not make every call on its own. At decision points it stops and asks you a question, and it waits for your answer before continuing.
How the agent asks
When the agent needs a decision, it shows a question in place of the message box, headed "Needs your input". You will see:
- Suggested choices you can pick from.
- The option to select more than one, when several answers can apply.
- A free-text option for when none of the choices fit.
You answer, and the agent continues with your decision. Nothing important happens behind your back at these points.
When it tends to ask
The agent pauses when a choice would shape the rest of the work and it should not guess for you. Common moments:
- A decision with more than one reasonable answer, like which of two layouts to use.
- A step where getting it wrong would be costly to undo.
- A point where it needs information only you have, such as which account or which content to use.
The clearer your original request, the fewer of these come up, because you have already answered them.
What stays under your control
- The agent only uses a service once you have connected it. It will not reach into a tool you have not linked.
- It works on your project's files in the open. You can see what it creates and edits, and it explains its changes in the conversation.
- The builder and project-lead agents are the ones that ask you questions. Specialist work runs behind the scenes and reports back through them.
If you want fewer interruptions, give more detail up front. The clearer your request, the fewer decisions the agent has to hand back to you.
